Perception Engineer- Robotics

At Bossa Nova we create service robots for the global retail industry. We’ve been hard at work to solve some of the biggest challenges for the world's largest retailers. Our robots’ mission is to make large-scale stores run efficiently by automating the collection and analysis of on-shelf inventory data. We drive autonomously through aisles, navigating safely among customers and store associates. If we were a self-driving car we’d be operating at level 5 autonomy.

Position: Perception Engineer- Robotics

Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Mountain View, CA

We are looking for a Perception Engineer- Robotics with a strong background in computer vision or robot perception. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing computer vision and image processing software related to robot perception, (object detection, recognition, tracking)
  • Developing scalable calibration algorithms for 2D/3D sensors in the robot 


  • BS or MS in Engineering, Sciences, Mathematics or similar fields
  • Fluent with Linux development environment
  • Proficient in C++ and Python
  • Experience in Computer Vision and/or Robot Perception
  • Experience working with the following sensors: Cameras, RGB-D sensors, ToF cameras, Lidar
  • Knowledge of OpenCV, PCL
  • Knowledge of Linear Algebra, Optimization a plus
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to learn quickly

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of ROS
