Senior Software Engineer

Position: Senior Software Engineer

Location: Pittsburgh

Bossa Nova Robotics, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA, responsible for developing software to improve the base platform, monitoring, automatically testing and reporting on the performance of the Bossa Nova platform (related to robotics software, algorithms, cloud and data delivery) during product development and system operation.

Specific duties of this position will include:

  • Developing software to be used in testing, monitoring and improving Bossa Nova software
  • Designing and developing multiple real-time streaming data pipelines
  • Working to ensure that product requirements are well-defined and testable, working throughout the entire software development and deployment process to ensure that the software deployed to the field has automated regression tests and that monitoring and alerting software is developed alongside the core software
  • Building production scale interactive data dashboards
  • Providing leadership on the software deployment processes, working with the operations teams to transition software from development to deployment to the field
  • Troubleshooting system problems, ranging from the robot up through the cloud, both in the test facility, and products in the field
  • Identifying root causes of problems and working with other teams to generate and test solutions to problems
  • Building tooling and infrastructure to increase observability of services.

Must have a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or a directly related field plus five (5) years of experience in a related position.

Experience must include five (5) years with each of the following:

  • Developing software products in Python, Java and C++
  • Linux operating system
  • Writing complex SQL queries in both relational and NoSQL databases
  • Complex systems that involve hardware control, real-time execution of software, data management, networking and cloud
  • Developing, executing and interpreting the results from automated tests
  • Data modeling, data extraction, data transformation and data cleaning.
  • Must also know elasticsearch, logstash and kibana.
