Compliance Engineer

At Bossa Nova we create service robots for the global retail industry. Our robots’ mission is to make large scale stores run efficiently by automating the collection and analysis of on-shelf inventory data. We drive autonomously through aisles, navigating safely among customers and store associates. If we were a self- driving car we’d be operating at level 5 autonomy.

Position: Compliance Engineer

Location: Mountain View, CA

The as a part of the Bossa Nova hardware team, you’d be expected to work in a collaborative environment. You’d be working cross functionally determining test applicability, testing procedures and what test makes the robot more complaint and then performing those tests either in-house or at 3rd party labs.

Responsibilities

  • Based on knowledge of Robotics and Consumer Electronics Industry Test Standards (IEC, ISO, ASTI, UL, ASTM, etc.), collaboratively establish test procedures for testing robot safety.
  • Based on the outcome of testing, collaborate cross-functionally for better design of the product.
  • Assist the team with the Risk Analysis process.
  • Manage scheduling, availability and quotation process with agencies like UL, TUV process with NRTL labs to perform robot safety and EMI/EMC tests.
  • Prepare concise and detailed test plans and reports. Conduct Failure Analysis using analytical techniques and methodology to derive root cause analysis on robot and sub-system levels.

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires 3-5 years of experience in testing. Testing in compliance (Safety & EMC) for complex systems is required.
  • Data collection, disposition and reporting abilities.
  • Solid understanding of Electrical concepts is required.
  • Confident with navigating ambiguity.
  • Experience in working in a dynamic engineering environment.
  • Experience in agency interaction and submission.
  • Experience in bug and schedule management system.
  • Nice to have - ability to automate a variety of manual testing processes using scripting languages.
  • Nice to have - experience in functional safety standards such as - ISO 13489-1, IEC 62061 and IEC 61508
