Program Manager Lead

At Bossa Nova we create service robots for the global retail industry. Our robots’ mission is to make large scale stores run efficiently by automating the collection and analysis of on-shelf inventory data. We drive autonomously through aisles, navigating safely among customers and store associates. If we were a self- driving car we’d be operating at level 5 autonomy.

Oh, we should add, it’s real, happening today, you can meet our robots in some of the world’s biggest retailers.

Position: Program Manager Lead

Location: San Francisco 

As an Program Manager Lead, you will have be responsible for for driving robot development schedules and managing project issues to timely resolutions. You will create and carry out processes that support high-level milestone execution in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team. You'll set the tone for how programs are run and products are built.

Success in this role means that we'll have teams who know what they should be doing and when. They'll trust others to come through with dependencies and that they won't get burnt out with impossible schedules. At the same time, our leadership team will feel informed and confident in the teams' ability to execute. And in the end, our customer gets what they want, when they want it. 


  • Establish processes for planning hardware and software engineering deliverables. communicate and enforce process.
  • Work with a team of project managers on project estimation, resource coordination and scheduling.
  • Evaluate risks to program schedule and help to define and drive mitigation plans.
  • Deliver project status and risks to leadership team. Foster alignment across stakeholders of goals, objectives and timelines.
  • Set program/project management best practices and mentor junior PMs


Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience shipping products and working collaboratively with teams.
  • Experience working in a dynamic engineering environment and real-time crisis management skills. Ability to parse tasks among HW, FW and SW and drive to closure
  • Proven ability to work with complex projects, especially with multi-product ecosystems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability in risk management and mitigation.
  • Experience with (and opinions about) different engineering methodologies.
  • Experience in program and bug tracking systems. Jira and Confluence preferred
  • Program management of geographically dispersed teams preferred.
