Lead Firmware Engineer


At Bossa Nova we create service robots for the global retail industry. Our robots’ mission is to make large scale stores run efficiently by automating the collection and analysis of on-shelf inventory data. We drive autonomously through aisles, navigating safely among customers and store associates. If we were a self- driving car we’d be operating at level 5 autonomy. Oh, we should add, it’s real, happening today,you can meet our robots in some of the world’s biggest retailers

 

Position: Lead Firmware Engineer

 

Responsibilities​:

  • Lead a firmware team for the architecture, specification and design of Bossanova’s production level robot
  • Provide senior-level leadership to the firmware design team in terms of workflow, priority assignment, risk mitigation and trade-off analysis
  • Work with engineering leadership to deliver solutions that provide value for the overall performance of robot
  • Job responsibilities also include the tasks of generate and debug production quality code
  • Lead a team to develop quality firmware and peripheral drivers for STM32 and Cypress PSoC microcontrollers in C and C++
  • Drive the development of build tools and utilities in Python
  • Manage with the team on developing software drivers to interface with high level robot software
  • Work cross-functionally on design and component selection of embedded control boards


Knowledge and Skill Requirements :

  • A solid track record of producing high quality products while meeting schedule and budget expectations.
  • Understanding of current industry-standard development and design management practices.
  • Solid collaboration skills and have a history of working with multidisciplinary teams to address technical issues.
  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a broader engineering organization.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to work with management to establish and execute strategies.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • 7+ years of design engineering experience
