Sr. Electrical Engineer


At Bossa Nova we create service robots for the global retail industry. Our robots’ mission is to make large scale stores run efficiently by automating the collection and analysis of on-shelf inventory data. We drive autonomously through aisles, navigating safely among customers and store associates. If we were a self- driving car we’d be operating at level 5 autonomy. Oh, we should add, it’s real, happening today,you can meet our robots in some of the world’s biggest retailers

 

Position: Senior Electrical Engineer

 

Responsibilities

  • Drive definition, design, and implementation of custom boards and interconnects.  Effort will include management and execution of architecture, component selection, schematic capture, board layout, board bring-up, and documentation
  • Integrate embedded controller circuit network, mobile processor/PC sub-systems and communication modules
  • Responsible for meeting EE aspects of agency requirements such as ANSI R15.06, UL 1740
  • Drive power system designs including Li battery sourcing and integration
  • Manage content, deliverables and schedule with design consultancies  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software teams to design, integrate and test new features.
  • Work with vendors, contractors and other engineers to choose high quality, cost effective components and COTS solutions.
  • Work with custom EE system suppliers on board and cable manufacturing.  Drive the bring up process and component quality
  • Drive build activities such as system integration, component quality, assembly procedures, test setup and procedures, failure analysis and DOE process for corrective action
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on compliance testing and agency application process

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering minimum
  • 10+ years hands-on experience with board level circuit design, system level design, prototyping and debugging
  • Experienced in analog and digital circuits for robotics and communications platforms with hands-on experience in schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Able to quickly design, build and test proofs of concept and prototypes while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
  • Available to travel overseas
  • US work authorization

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with hardware test scripts (matlab, labview, or others)
  • Electronic systems simulation experience
  • Experience with FPGAs
  • Experience with automotive electronic and communication systems
  • Experience with motors and other electromechanical components
