Human Capital Manager

At Bossa Nova we create service robots for the global retail industry. Our robots’ mission is to make large scale stores run efficiently by automating the collection and analysis of on-shelf inventory data. We drive autonomously through aisles, navigating safely among customers and store associates. If we were a self- driving car, we’d be operating at level 5 autonomy.

Oh, we should add, it’s real, happening today, you can meet our robots in some of the world’s biggest retailers.

Position:  Human Capital Manager

Location: Pittsburgh, PA


  • Provide a full range of human resources and operational support to our growing organization
  • Manage all human capital related matters including on-boarding, compensation, benefits, conflict resolution, legal issues, compliance issues, and employees development
  • Design and implement employee relations policies to maintain an environment conducive to maximum individual and team success
  • Guide managers and employees in their practice of Bossa Nova culture and policies.
  • Assist in the development of the compensation program. Administer the on-going program to ensure we maintain competitive compensation policies and practice
  • Develop and maintain data on current compensation levels, job descriptions, salary structures and incentive programs
  • Assure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws governing employment in multiple states.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • BS/BA in related discipline required, advanced degree a plus. SPHR/GPHR/PHR is strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of successful experience in a human resources capacity with successful demonstration of the key responsibilities as presented above.  Experience as Head of HR is a plus.
  • Generalist experience with proven ability to work productively in a fast growing environment
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with a remote employee population and ability to travel to the San Francisco Office periodically
  • Flexible, self-directed, motivated, and able to interact with employees at all levels
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to objectively coach employees and management through routine and complex employee relations matters
  • Leadership skills, professionalism and team attitude
  • Previous experience in growing start-up environment in multiple sites preferred
